reporting services - Setting a unique color for each category group in SSRS chart -

i have report has separate charts (both column , pie charts) each of 3 past years. data includes promotion type category group. i'm looking standardize coloring regardless promotion types displayed colors match on each of charts, years have promotion types others not. there more 300 promotion types, , possibility of more coming, using iif statement or creating color palette out of question.

any suggestions appreciated.

have found 40-50 colors distinct enough can tell them apart when on screen @ same time? in experience, colors become less useful once above 10 items various shades become hard distinguish.

regardless of if can done, don't think final outcome usable. many colors become overwhelming , meaningless user. better use distinct colors top 5 or , lump 'other' color.
